It's so so quiet around here now,...
I think,.... I have empty nest syndrome ;-)
I have to take that statement back,....My VACANCY sign worked,...
but,...now,...there's sad news...
The new female Robin on the same nest,....has just lost its eggs to a predator.
I'm afraid the nest will never again be occupied.
The adult Robins know that the nest is no longer safe.
The predator also knows this nest represents another potential meal in its survival in the wild outdoors.
Outside, I can hear the distress chirps of loss from the mother Robin as she flies about the tree and yard knowing she lost her new offspring.
Nature isn't always kind and the hurt of loss of loved ones is the same no matter what species.
I am thankful to have witnessed, photographed and documented the one entire nesting, nurturing and fledge cycle of one family of Robins, a gift I will not soon forget.
