Artist's Description

Crashing surf from the remains of hurricane Sandy pound the bold coast of Quoddy Head State Park in downeast Lubec, Maine.
Hurricane Sandy (nicknamed Frankenstorm) was the deadliest and most destructive hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, as well as the second-costliest hurricane in United States history.
On October 30th 2012 Maine felt the late brunt of Sandy with winds exceeding 60mph from this hurricane that measured 1,100 miles edge to edge.
Sandy struck the Northeast with incredible force. By the time the rains subsided, at least 146 lives had been lost and hundreds of thousands of homes had been damaged. All told, the storm caused more than $60 billion in damage.
