Perched high atop a rocky overlook West Quoddy Head Lighthouse's landmark beacon has guided ships through Quoddy Narrows since 1808. The 49 foot high brick rotunda sits 83 feet above sea level, its third order Fresnel lens casts its light 15 to 18 mile out to sea.
Fifteen red and white horizontal stripes characterize this tall structure aiding visibility in fog and other inclement weather.
West Quoddy Head Lighthouse is located at the easternmost peninsula on the United States mainland at Quoddy Head State Park, Lubec, Maine.
