Description
Maine is known for its rugged bold coast, deep water ports and hidden harbors which allow safe boat anchorages. There are times though when public anchoring space is not available or fishermen prefer out of the way mooring locations.
Boat owners can take advantage of Maine's many protected coves and inlets. A small insignificant rocky island can offers security and convenience sheltering boats from exposure to heavy incoming seas, winds and strong tidal currents.
The lobster boat here is moored aside an exposed rock ledge island, a lone skeletal tree emphasizes a remoteness of time and place,....quintessentially down east Maine. A slight painterly texture to this image further conveys this distinct mood.
This image is part of an ongoing pictorial series portraying down east Maine's fishing boats by Marty Saccone.
