Rising Milky Way silhouettes coastal trees at Acadia National Park's Schoodic Point peninsula, Winter Harbor, Maine.
With the aid of a compass and a couple of hours searching I located several interesting south facing foregrounds for that evening's sky shoot.
I had a short window of time to place myself at each site before the pre dawn light would wash out the stars and my opportunity.
As the Milky Way rose a fog obscured the lower horizon. This composition the with two tall trees I had located earlier resulted being the ideal foreground.
The bold coast shoreline of Acadia National Park's Schoodic Point peninsula a pristine location of granite headlands that provide one of the best places in Maine to view pounding surf and rough seas.
