Description
'Fireweed Glory"
As July gets underway and the wild irises and the lupines are long gone,...fireweed will make its colorful appearance in open fields, along roadsides, streams and at forest edges. Fireweed often carpets vast meadow landscapes with its bright colorful magenta pink blossoms.
The name fireweed originates from its ability to first take hold rapidly in areas once burned by fire,..it was one of the first plants to reappear following the eruption of Mount Saint Helens in 1980.
I was gifted with beautiful display of saturated pink hues layered from sharp to softly out of focus radiating in the summer morning light.
Marty's Down East Maine Collection focuses on seascapes and landscapes, lighthouses, nautical themes, dense fogs, ocean tides, working fishing boats, quaint harbors, nature & wildlife, and many other subjects in and around this beautiful unexploited area of New England known as down east Maine may be seen at;
