Artist's Description

Any worms or grubs this Robin Red Breast is looking for are buried under 34 to 36 inches of snow right now. This cold little guy turned up on my apple tree February 13th during a nor'easter blizzard. The Robin immediately laid claim to this tree thru a second blizzard two days later and he hasn't left the tree for 5 days now.

The Robin has been eating almost non stop from the 12 to 15 dozen rotten apples remaining on that tree.
In 5 days he's digested almost one quarter of that rotten fruit to survive.
All birds approaching the tree are immediately attacked as this territorial terror guards its food supply.
The early bird doesn't get the worm, not in mid February anyway,...the first day of Spring is 5 weeks away let alone seeing any green grass.
Has this Robin's instinctive spring navigational sense gone awry,.....maybe warmer climate conditions altered his instinctive migration behavior? Who knows?

I doubt the apples will hold out much longer.
